On the 8th of November at around 1am I went outside to look for my kitten, Brendan, and found him lying dead in front of the cat door. After carrying him inside and screaming my head off to awaken my parents we all cried hysterically and decided to take his body to the vet in the morning to get an autopsy done to determine cause of death because to all outward appearances he did not have anything wrong with him.
At around 8 am we took the body to said vet and explained what happened. The vet promised to let us know as soon as possible what the results of the autopsy were. We were also asked if we would like the body to be incinerated which I decided would be best since it is very hard to dig a big and deep enough hole at this time of year to bury Brendan in the garden.
The autopsy report came back today. It states cause of death by trauma most likely due to being hit by a car. They found blood and fluids in the thorax and abdomen. The spleen and liver were torn.
So this post is wholly dedicated to Brendan. A brave little kitty in an unforgiving world. May you Rest In Peace. We miss you.
